Lesson 1: Basic HTML Tags
(Tag Etiquette)

Always close the most recently opened tag first. By correctly "nesting" the opening and closing tags, you insure that the browser will execute the HTML tags correctly.

In XHTML it is a requirement to close all tags in the correct order.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"

<head>
<title>Welcome to HTML</title>
</head>

<body bgcolor="#bdbdbd" text="#000000">

<h2>
Welcome to the world of HTML!

</center>
</p>
